A bit of mixed week - I have return from Doha, and well to be honest I'm feeling a bit down. I suppose I was thinking I would be at home in Dublin with a medal around my neck, unfortunately it was not to be. Instead I'm straight back into training. Got back to Loughborough on Monday and was out on the track with the group on Tuesday morning. I've got to just get on with things, and get back into the hard work.

It's good to get back into my routine and start to focus on what is ahead. At the end of the day I didn't put to much resources into an indoor season, my training is geared for me to peak in the summer. Also, the fact I ran 45.52 in February tells me I am in good shape for the summer.

I do have to look back at the whole indoor experience, and think what might have been, but I will take the positives out of it, and the major one is that I am in great shape. I have never run this fast at this time of the year, and I still have a lot of training to do before the season starts in June.

The other major factor is that it is a kick in the backside, and that the sight of the other athletes passing me in the home straight in Doha will spur me on and motivate me even more to succeed.

As I said after Doha...I don't slog my guts out 6 days a week, 11 months of the year in a different country, to be a runner up!!

So it was a week of mixed emotions. At times I feel, "right I'm going to show them" and then, mainly when I wake up in the morning, it's a feeling of "FECK".

Anyway, that was then and now I'm looking forward to getting stuck back into it. I'm heading off to LA for a month, not a bad life I suppose. A month long training camp in the OC. Sun, sea and sweat!!

I'm looking forward to it now, didn't really think of it because I had Doha coming up, but now full steam ahead!

This will be my 4th time out in LA. We stay in an area called Irvine and train out of the University of California, Irvine. A great spot, great facilities and the weather is HOT.

It's a pre season camp, so we will start to do some fast work, focusing on quality rather than quantity. There is also the opportunity to do some early season races against some good American opposition, I think id like a craic at the boys again, ill sharpen my elbows this time boys!!
