Race 6 - Barcelona, Spain
Jul 26
2nd - 45.48 : Well my sixth race brought me to Barcelona. The meet took place in the Olympic Stadium, and to be honest it looked like it hadn't been updated since 1992.
Race wasnt great, not too happy with it. It was a lazy run, 1st 200 was not great, came home well in the last 50/60 meters to take second. I feel i should have won it but ya cant run great all the time i suppose. Felt fine afterwards, but another late race so ment i didnt get to me leaba till well late!
I just spent the last 2 weeks back in training and also recovering from a 24 hour bug I picked up after my race in Rome. That was a funny one. I woke up on Sunday after returning from Rome on the Saturday, and felt sick as a dog. So i went to the Doctor, and basically the Doc said I have got all the symptoms of swine flu! He told me to take tamiflu and stay in my house for 5 days, oh yeah and wear a mask! Thankfully, I woke up on Monday and felt absolutely fine. So I then just took it easy for a day or so, just to make sure I was recovered. The Doc didnt do any blood or swab tests, he just said everyone is getting it, think that is what is sending people into panic mode. If anyone has a cough now, they think its swine flu!! But i was fine and got back into training. So it was great to be back out on the track, getting another race under my belt before I move on to Monaco for a race on Tuesday
This meet in Barcelona is cool, as im writing this im sitting on the 9th floor of the hotel overlooking the beach on my left and the city of Barcelona in front of me. Made the most of it this morn, went for a jog and hopped in the sea after, not a bad life i suppose!!
My roommate here was none other than Irish 800/1500 athlete Thomas "Madra" Chamney, he's a mad man, and was great to room with someone I know, as most times you travel to meets you just get put into a room with a random athlete, who may not even speak english! So was great to be rooming with Chammers!
