Race 7 - Monte Carlo, Monaco

Jul 29

On Sunday, I travelled from Barcelona on to Monaco for a race on Tuesday. We arrived late on Sunday night, so had all day Monday to chill out and check out Monte-Carlo.

For those of you that have not been to Monaco, its amazing, its so so wealthy its unbelievable. Most cars are porsches, lambo's etc etc!
The hotel we were staying in was unreal too! On one side were overlooking the bay and on the other side overlooking the tight hairpin bend of the Formula 1 race course, which is just a normal road at all other times.

The meet was great too. The atmosphere was electric. The stadium isnt the biggest but the way it is built makes it feel enclosed. There was a good crowd at it, so it had a big meet feel to it. Exectly what I wanted prior to Berlin.

I felt the race when well for me, I was in lane 3, inside LaShawn Merritt the Olympic Champion. I got out well, and was comfortable down the back straight, felt I was gaining on him around the bend, but he had a few metres on me up the home straight.

I got pipped for second, finishing third, but overall I was happy with my run, it wasnt my fastest (45.34), but at this time of the season its about beating people and it was a good field in Monaco, and I pick off a few.

Next for me is a trip home, and I cant wait, its been a while. I will run over 200m at the Irish Champ's this Saturday. But most of all I'm just looking forward to getting home to chill out and see friends and family, and you never know I might get in a Dub's game aswell!!

Forgot to say, the hotel also had a casino, but i wasn't as successful at that as I was on the track!
